Job Description

Looking to add a fast growing brand to your portfolio? Powder Fiend LLC DBA Weston is looking for Independent Sales Representatives nationwide for our assortment of splitboards, snowboards and skis. Since 2012, Weston has become the 2nd largest splitboard manufacturer and a top 25 backcountry brand that has multiple awards for our outstanding products and strong emphasis on quality, service, and values orientation. Weston is a 1% for the Planet member as well as B-Corp Certified.

This particular winter hardgoods independent rep opportunity is also slightly unique in that Weston does not require reps to staff demos and events in local regions unless they so desire/find benefit to their sales. Weston maintains a robust ambassador network to help facilitate our presence at events. 

Weston is looking for individuals who can open new retailers, maintain relationships and close deals. As a 3rd party Independent Sales Representative, you will be responsible for managing your own territories including all aspects of the sales process for existing and new accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell-In
    • Identify and open retailer opportunities in the local region.
    • Develop close relationships with owners and buyers of existing and new retail accounts.
    • Manage and track your sales pipeline in Hubspot.
      • Keep records of shop visits, pertinent buyers, and staff.
      • Note opportunities for growth or product assortment strategy.
      • Attending local trade shows where necessary.
      • Completing line showings both in season and pre-book lines; ensure accounts understand the value proposition and brand differentiation.
      • Manage all pertinent regional trade shows and events within the territory; participate in national shows and events as needed.
      • Attend annual sales meeting.
      • Management and utilization of seasonal samples.
      • Sell-Through
        • Nurture close relationships with on floor sales staff.
        • Work with retailers to schedule product education clinics in September through November once product has arrived.
        • Work with the ambassador team leads where necessary to help staff clinics, sales events or potential event opportunities.
        • Obtain retailer sell-through data/feedback to help inform production and marketing initiatives.
        • Distribute sales contest information and pro-deals to shop staff.
        • Identify and implement opportunities for POP and merchandising.
        • Assist accounts with visual merchandising and inventory management.
        • Guerilla Grassroots Marketing
          • Tagging local zones with Weston stickers, legally of course
          • Identifying potential ambassador and athlete candidates
          • Identifying relevant events or marketing opportunities for the marketing team

            Qualifications

            • Live Weston values (Education, Community, Sustainability).
            • Be honest and have integrity. Be cool, get your stuff done well, and have fun.
            • Proven track record with, and portfolio of, complementary outdoor brands.
            • Existing key relationships with buyers in your territory.
            • Background in outdoor industry, preferably in backcountry, snowboarding and/or skiing.
            • Required to live in your territory and ability to travel to your accounts.
            • Excel in professional communications.
            • Strong negotiation and consultative sales skills.
            • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
            • Effective communication skills.
            • Exceptional customer service skills.
            • Knowledge of Google Suite of products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Presentations).
            • Knowledge of Hubspot.
            • Knowledge of Slack.

            Compensation:

            • 10% Commission on any accounts in the region  (5% on order, 5% on payment).
              • Does not apply to existing online inventory for dealers that are headquartered in your regions (primarily REI, Backcountry.com, EVO, MEC).
              • For accounts with online and retail locations (EVO, REI, MEC), commission will be determined based on the number of units on the floor at the retail locations.
              • 5% commission on existing online customer support crews in the region specifically MEC and EVO. 
            • High discount on Weston Gear for personal use and discounts for friends & family.
            • Two new boards or skis in every contracted season upon signing.
            • Contract will be annual and renegotiated annually every July until canceled.
