My dad started to teach my older sister and I how to snowboard when I was 6 years old. We would go to A-basin, in Colorado, and because there wasn't a magic carpet there yet: he would push/pull us up the slope, crank down the bindings on our tiny boards, let go of the hands he was holding, and run down the slope after us. As I got older, my dad introduced the sport to my younger brother and eventually my mom took it up too. My love of the mountains, the sport, and my family became synonyms and is part of what drives me to the mountains still, I feel like I am home. 

Definitely last season, I was up in the Mt. Baker wilderness area when the "atmospheric river" moved across the state of Washington. There had been a very shallow snow pack up until this point and when it started to snow it didn't stop for a couple of days. It snowed several feet over night and two days later stabilized. The power was epic! I hadn't rode a Washington storm pack that felt like Colorado style fluff, every turn was absolute butter! 

I was in Revelstoke several winters ago and some of the guys I was with had decided that they wanted to ski Rogers Pass. We didn't understand the closure system and our original plan was quickly no longer an option. Instead of leaving and coming back with a better plan, one of the guys got on a mobile version of CalTopo and put a track in where there was some low angle tree skiing. Honestly, it wasn't a day that stands out because the mountains shut us down or we tested the boundary of our acceptable risk. It stands out because of the group dynamic, there was a sever lack of communication and discussion. Since then I have put a lot more energy into understanding the group I go tour with and how we operate as a team, prior to leaving the parking lot. 

Well, of course I love the boards, but honestly I love Weston because they make good boards AND is a company that is spending time and energy on the issues they feel passionate about. The company has put a lot of time into partnering with organizations like SheJumps and AIARE, to bring more women the opportunity to get outside and receive an education.
